Since I have already installed the rain chain, I need a rain barrel to pair it with. I went shopping around different home depots to look for rain barrels for sale. I prefer a roof catchment system that is huge so that it can contain much as it can.  

By storing the collected rain, I will no longer worry much about water shortage. Just allow the first few water splashes to be thrown away since it may include pests or bird droppings then you can stock up the rest. It is an economical way to recycle rain. Since I have a vegetable garden I can use it to water my plants, or it may also be utilized for cleaning the car or for irrigation. Stored water can be used for future emergencies.

The rainy season is fast approaching. A good way to welcome this season is by installing a rain chain. The Japanese have been using the rain chains for quite some time and now it has become more popular among different households.  I decided to do a bit of change for my gutter. I pulled out the old rusty metal vertical pipe and hooked a butterfly link chains rain in the drain hole, which looks very feminine and pretty, compared to the downsprout.
